Routine Dental Care
Prevention and care is a crucial aspect of your dental hygiene routine: If done properly, you could have a lifelong perfect smile that requires minimum maintenance to stay at its optimal level of health. Because your dental health is so important to us, your Oakwood Dental professionals are happy to offer cleanings as part of your regular checkup as well as advice on what you can do at home.
Dental Cleanings & Checkups
Dental checkups should be done every six months in order to prevent a myriad of dental problems, such as gum disease, tooth decay, cavities, etc. These issues cannot be seen with the naked eye in their early stages, yet by the time they reach a more advanced stage your teeth would require extensive treatment. If caught early, even something as serious as gum disease can be prevented through a simple cleaning implemented by your dentist at your biannual checkup. If you have a history of poor oral health, your checkup may also include an x-ray to check for potential damage in your teeth.
Regular Brushing & Flossing
There are also things you can do on a daily basis as part of care and prevention, such as regular brushing and flossing. Brushing and flossing your teeth at least twice a day removes any excess food as well as plaque build-up, not only instantly brightening your teeth but also preventing cavities and tooth decay. In addition, your toothpaste contains fluoride that is specially designed to help remove plaque and act as a support for your tooth enamel.
