by | Dec 14, 2021

Our dental health is essential. Any malfunction of the dental system affects the overall wellbeing of the other body systems, ranging from the digestive to the nervous system.

Numerous issues can affect our dental system. While some can be managed or endured till one meets a dentist. There are, however, emergency cases that require the urgent intervention of a professional dentist to salvage the situation.

This article is furnished with insights on three emergency dental health problems.

1. Knocked out Permanent Tooth

In a situation where one’s permanent tooth has been knocked out, the urgent attention of a professional dentist is required. Before getting to a dentist, the tooth should be carefully taken through the crown and rinsed with milk without touching its root. After rinsing, you should soak the tooth inside milk. In the absence of milk, water is a good substitute.

Subsequently, rinse the child’s mouth and proceed to a dentist. If the root is carefully preserved, the dentist can see to the tooth’s reimplantation.

When an adult is a victim, a properly preserved tooth can be restored to its place.

2. Toothache

A toothache may or may not be regarded as emergency dental care. The classification is based on the severeness of the pain. Nevertheless, a highly painful toothache episode should be treated as emergency dental health care.

It must be noted that toothache can be caused by many conditions like an abscess, gum inflammation, tooth decay, or some other infection in the body.

Contrary to popular opinion and practice, toothache should not be treated with painkillers. These drugs burn the already fragile tissue and gum. Cold substances, however, could be applied to the area where the pain is felt to reduce the intensity before proceeding to a dentist for proper care.

3. Post-tooth Extraction Bleeding and Pain

It is not uncommon to experience aches and bleeding after tooth extraction, but pain and bleeding should be treated as emergency dental health care.
