How to keep your smile white this summer

by | Jun 23, 2022

Summer is the perfect season for good fun, food, and wine. While some delicacies can stain your teeth, you could mitigate their impact and keep them sparkling white by incorporating some good dental tips.

These tips will keep your smile white this summer and improve your overall health and well-being as an individual. So here are some of the tips that will help keep your smile white:

1. Swish with water

After eating food that could stain your teeth, the best thing to do is swish it with water. That will help wash away the ingredients that cause stains from your mouth. You can either use sparkling water or pure water, but never with wine or soda.

If you have a wound in your mouth or bleeding gum, add a teaspoon of salt to a glass of water and gargle three to four times. If it’s severe, don’t hesitate to visit your dentist as soon as possible

2. Maintain your daily oral habit

It would help if you never skipped brushing and flossing every day unless it’s a situation that you can’t help. Brushing two times a day is ideal. However, you’re free to brush your teeth one hour after eating food that stains.

That’s why having multiple brushes is good. That way, you can keep one in your car, at your desk at work, or even in your purse. If you don’t trust your brushing technique, feel free to talk to your dentist about it.

3. Stick to a teeth-friendly diet

While some numerous foods and drinks could stain your teeth, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself anymore. Instead, try to replace some of the options with something healthier. For instance, you could try herbal infusions instead of tea and coffee.

You could consider white wine or a Pink Moscato if you’re a wine drinker. However, if you don’t want to give up red wine, then you have to make it a habit to brush an hour later to reduce stains.

4. Regular visits to the dentist

Every six months, your dentist expects you to come for regular dental checkups and cleanings. Not missing an appointment will ensure you get issues checked out before they become severe.

If you’re having any issues, like bleeding gum, a wobbly tooth, or tooth sensitivity, this is also a perfect time for your dentist to address them before they become serious.

5. Talk to your dentist about tooth whitening
