Staten Island Dentist offers some summer tips – Don’t take a break from your teeth

by | Jun 1, 2018

This summer you may be planning a vacation to take a break from certain things in your life, but it is important to make sure you don’t forget about your oral health! Keeping up with your teeth is very important, and that’s why Oakwood Dental is here to help guide you in the right direction on what to pack to keep your teeth on the right track.

If you’re due for a cleaning, we suggest that this be the first step you take in order to prep for your vacation. After making a trip to the dentist you will be absolutely certain that you are ready to start your travel and ready to smile. When traveling you should be sure to pack the 3 most important items which include a new toothbrush, floss, and travel sized mouthwash. It is recommended that you always pack double of these items, one in your carry-on and the other in your luggage, just in case something were to go unexpected.

We understand that eating healthy on vacation may be very difficult, but it would be smart to keep in mind that staying away from sticky and sugary snacks could help prevent you from forming a cavity. If it comes down to you eating food that is not the best, make sure you stay on top of it and take proper care of your teeth after eating these foods. Keeping routine is the best way to stay on track, and breaking routine makes it very easy to start bad habits. With this being said, we suggest that you are strict about your daily routine of brushing and flossing; after all it only takes a few minutes out of your day and it can benefit your future ahead. Your Staten Island Dentists at Oakwood Dental hopes you have a great vacation!
